Wayne & Kit Danley Scholarship

"The Dream Carries On"

Established in 2007, the Wayne & Kit Danley Scholarship serves as a stepping stone for first-generation college students, many of whom have been nurtured through Neighborhood Ministries’ programs from a young age.

The scholarship does far more than offer financial support; it provides a framework of accountability and mentorship that guides these promising young people toward achieving their collegiate and life ambitions.

As we continue our mission, we invite you to invest in the promise of tomorrow, for it is through your support that youth are empowered to rise to their highest potential.

REAL LIFE, ACTIVE FAITH

Community Needs

From the inception of Neighborhood Ministries, we recognized the untapped potential of the incredible youth residing in our community. In our formative years, we identified barriers that challenged our young people, deterring them from completing their education and realizing their true potential. It became our mission to cultivate an environment that would not only sustain their educational pursuits but also inspire them to rise above challenges, steering them towards futures filled with possibilities rather than hardships.

Understanding the transformative power of education, we continuously develop and refine programming aimed at ensuring the academic success of our youth. Our organization spearheaded innovative intervention and prevention educational initiatives, grounded in comprehensive research on effective community-based solutions.

Recent Challenges and Adaptation

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, our community faced new obstacles: increased financial burdens due to escalating rents, and an environment of heightened family stress. Yet, we see these challenges as an opportunity to underscore the crucial role that higher education plays in empowering our youth to overcome adversity.

The Wayne & Kit Danley Scholarship: A Legacy of Hope and Opportunity

Established in 2007, the Wayne & Kit Danley Scholarship Fund embodies our ethos: to “Break the Cycle of Poverty and Build a Cycle of Love & Hope.” This scholarship serves as a stepping stone for first-generation college students, many of whom have been nurtured through Neighborhood Ministries’ programs from a young age. The scholarship does far more than offer financial support; it provides a framework of accountability and mentorship that guides these promising young people towards achieving their collegiate and life ambitions. Through their successes, they not only transform their own lives but also enrich our community, creating a ripple effect of positive change.

As we continue our mission, we invite you to invest in the promise of tomorrow, for it is through your support that we empower our youth to rise to their highest potential. Together, we can cultivate a community of enduring strength, resilience, and boundless possibility.

The Wayne & Kit Scholarship Endowment Match

The Wayne & Kit Danley Scholarship Endowment goal is $1 million, and we’re excited to report that a $500,000 matching pledge was generously committed last year. This year, we’re focusing on reaching the halfway point of that overall goal.

Specifically, we aim to raise $300,000 by the time of our Scholarship Breakfast on November 3, 2023, to benefit our Scholarship Endowment. To date, we’ve already gathered $150,000, putting us halfway to this year’s milestone. This means that we only need to raise an additional $75,000 to leverage the matching funds, allowing us to meet our $300,000 goal for the year.
