KIDS CLUB: Restore • Rebuild • Rise

In life there are moments when we are confronted with the questions, “Should we dare hold space in our heart for hopes of a world of safety?” “A hope where there’s peace and safety for ourselves, for our loved ones?” “Hope for our black, brown and yellow brothers and sisters, or any person of color?” The answer is absolutely!

Last year was a moment in history which we will speak about for generations to come. In the midst of a pandemic, we saw our world rally together and protest after the tragic murder of George Floyd. We also grieved and lamented over the dreadful treatment of our unaccompanied children being placed in cages and treated inhumanly. Seeing these protest responses awakened a glimmer of hope and a calling to advocate.

Dream with us about REBUILDING our lost and broken communities!

For Kids Club this year, it is important for us to create space for our kids to lament and to be presented with the opportunity to become advocates and a voice for our most beloved and vulnerable communities.

We want our kids to see the possibility of a new world full of love and care for one another. Which is why we selected our theme to be Restore Rebuild Rise. We are Restoring HOPE, Rebuilding COMMUNITIES and Rising TOGETHER.

Our scripture this year is Isaiah 61: 2-4

To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion, give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, Messages of joy instead of news of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid spirit. Rename them “Oaks of Righteousness” planted by God to display his glory. They’ll rebuild the old ruins, raise a new city out of the wreckage. They’ll start over on the ruined cities, take the rubble left behind and make it new.

Like the children of Israel were faced with time and time again, our desire is to empower our kids to work towards something new – something that will bring about peace and a hope for a future. It may cost our community comfort; but the reward is far more valuable.

The lives of 400 children can be impacted at Kids Club this year with your generous gift.

This month we need your help to give our kids that hope! On average, it costs $133.34 to provide everything that Kids Club offers per child. Due to CDC guidelines, we are expecting 400 kids to attend this year, which means we need $53,336.00 to make this happen for all 400 kiddos.

The great news is – thanks to some generous friends – any gift you give towards Kids Club will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $30,000! That means the cost to give a child the experience of a lifetime is cut in half to $66.67! Or maybe you’ve been especially blessed this year and can afford to give two kids hope for $133.34, or speak into the lives of four kids for $266.68?

Whatever you can do makes a huge difference this summer!

After missing an entire year of in-person Kids Club, we are beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to finally be face-to-face with the kids in our community. It feels like an eternity since we have been able to high-five our precious kiddos, give hugs or have them show us their latest moves. Our 2021 interns are already hard at work making sure each participant will be safe, seen and connected.

We are so thrilled to get back to some normalcy this summer. Kids Club will run from June 28th through July 9th this year with an additional option to attend online where we will live stream worship and other parts of the program.

This is the year we have the opportunity to RISE to the occasion and RESTORE the hope that may have been lost. Dream with us about REBUILDING our lost and broken communities! Together, with God’s help, we can make it happen!
