A thankful heart … is medicine for the soul. Muses, philosophers, theologians and mystics have considered the profundity of becoming grateful. The great G.K. Chesterton, a prolific author from the turn of the last century found gratitude to be transformative: “I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”

What an incredible season we are in here at Neighborhood … our reflections centering around the countless gifts and miraculous events we’ve experienced in our 40 years of ministry. All glory to God! We are filled with gratitude as we make our final preparations for our BIG EVENT – the 40th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, December 3.

These miraculous gifts from God have come to us in and through people – children, teenagers, young adults, parents, Abuelas and Abuelos, volunteers, community partners, donors, whole churches, activists, our own NM staff, educators, non-profit leaders, Pastors, essential workers, missionaries, politicians and government officials, artists, architects, contractors, business owners – and many, many servant leader friends. Everyone needed, everyone finding their way to us by the leading and prompting of God, everyone looking for hope, love and power – many finding it — in the midst of this story, and their story.

I thank my God in all my remembrance of … all … of you

Won’t you come and join us for this BIG celebration of the 40 years of all that God has done? You have been so critical to this work, and we have been regularly thanking God for you. What would we have done without you?

Our 40th Anniversary Christmas Fiesta will be our biggest event of the year… maybe our biggest event ever! We will have an Open House, live entertainment and festival from 2:00 – 5:30 pm, dinner will be served from 4:30-5:30 pm and the program will be from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.

We will have a petting zoo, trolley rides, bounce houses, a live Nativity, ministry department tours and a whole lot more!

I hope you can come to the Big Event. There will be so much to experience and celebrate that day. There will be food and fun for everyone! So bring the whole family… and your neighbors, too!

I thank God for you and hope to see you on December 3!

Love,

Kit

P.S. As you prepare your end-of-year financial gifts, don’t forget that any gift you give to Neighborhood Ministries, up to $400 for those filing singly or up to $800 for those filing jointly, can be claimed as a dollar-for-dollar credit against what you owe in state taxes. It’s a gift that doesn’t cost you a dime!
