Student Ministries Intern (Part-Time)
Position Overview:
The Student Ministries Intern supports the relational and administrative work of Neighborhood Ministries’ children and youth programming through consistent engagement with participants, families, and program systems. This role is designed as a formative opportunity for emerging leaders to develop skills in mentorship, program support, and community-based ministry.
Interns will contribute to both relational and operational aspects of the ministry, with a primary focus on home visitations, student engagement, registration processes, and communications support. The position follows the seasonal rhythms of Fall and Spring programming and emphasizes presence, consistency, and thoughtful documentation of impact.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Relational Engagement & Mentorship
- Conduct regular home visitations with students and families to build trust and deepen relational connection.
- Log mentoring interactions and engagement hours in alignment with program expectations and grant requirements.
- Serve as a positive, consistent presence for children and youth in both program and home settings.
Program & Administrative Support
- Assist with student registration processes for school-year and summer programming, including form collection and data entry.
- Support program planning efforts through preparation of materials, organization of activities, and logistical coordination.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and required program data.
Communications & Marketing
- Create and schedule content for social media platforms to promote programming, events, and student engagement.
- Assist in developing flyers, announcements, and other communication materials for families and the broader community.
- Monitor and respond to basic digital communications as directed.
Work Schedule & Commitment:
- Part-Time: 10–15 hours per week (hours based on weekly logs, up to 15 hours).
- Position follows Fall and Spring semester cycles (approximately 15 weeks per semester).
- Availability required during after-school hours, evenings, and occasional weekends, aligned with program schedules.
Qualifications:
- Current college student or recent graduate preferred (fields such as social work, education, ministry, or related areas).
- Experience working with children and/or youth in a community, ministry, or educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to build meaningful relationships across cultures.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with basic administrative and data entry skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Prevention Specialist - Community Programs
Department: Family Services & Youth Programs
Reports To: Prevention Program Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Prevention Specialist is a vital member of the Substance Use Prevention team, responsible for implementing effective strategies and programs to prevent substance abuse and promote overall wellness among youth in our community. The Prevention Specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders, conduct educational workshops, provide support, and referrals, and contribute to the development and evaluation of prevention initiatives. This position requires a strong commitment to youth empowerment, community engagement, and evidence-based prevention practices.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Program Coordinator to develop and implement prevention programs and initiatives aimed at reducing substance abuse and related issues among youth.
- Collaborate with Program Directors, Neighborhood Ministries community programs, community organizations, and schools to coordinate and integrate prevention efforts.
- Deliver educational workshops, presentations, and training sessions to youth, parents, and community members on substance abuse prevention.
- Provide one-on-one support, and guidance to youth at risk of substance abuse, as well as their families.
- Work with the team in the creation and distribution of informational materials, such as brochures, pamphlets, targeted outreach strategies and online resources, to increase awareness and knowledge of prevention efforts.
- Stay abreast of current research, trends, and best practices in prevention and wellness, integrating them into program development.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of prevention programs by collecting and analyzing data, generating reports, and making recommendations for improvement.
- Attend conferences, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of prevention.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to prevention activities and participant outcomes.

Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in psychology, social work, public health, or a related field. Other combinations of experience, education, certifications and skills that meet minimum requirements may be substituted.
- Proven experience in prevention work, community outreach, or related areas, particularly with youth.
- Comprehensive knowledge of substance abuse prevention strategies, evidence-based interventions, and risk factors specific to youth.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and educate diverse populations, including youth.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals, crossfunctional teams, community organizations, and educational institutions.
- Familiarity with local resources and services related to substance abuse prevention and treatment for youth.
- Proficiency in data collection and evaluation methods to assess program outcomes and measure impact.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Prevention Coordinator - Community Programs
Department: Neighborhood Family Services
Reports To: Workforce Development Director
Position Overview:
The Prevention Program Coordinator is a critical role within the Parenting Por Vida, responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of substance abuse prevention programs and initiatives aimed at youth and their families in our community. Reporting directly to the Parent Por Vida Director, the Substance Abuse Prevention Program Coordinator will collaborate with other community programs within Neighborhood Ministries and other stakeholders, manage program activities, provide guidance and support to prevention staff, and ensure the successful delivery of prevention services. This position requires strong organizational skills, a deep understanding of substance abuse prevention strategies, and a commitment to empowering youth and promoting their well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the implementation of substance abuse prevention programs and initiatives targeted toward youth and their families living in our community.
- Collaborate with the Parent Por Vida Director, community organizations, and schools to ensure the effective integration of substance abuse prevention efforts.
- Develop and manage program schedules, and timelines, and ensure the successful execution of program activities.
- Provide leadership and guidance to prevention staff, including training and supervision.
- Participate in regular meetings with program staff to facilitate collaboration, address challenges, and ensure program goals are met.
- Monitor program outcomes and evaluate program effectiveness through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to build partnerships, leverage resources, and enhance program reach and impact.
- Stay informed about current research, best practices, and emerging trends in substance abuse prevention, integrating them into program development and implementation.
- Develop and deliver educational workshops, presentations, and training sessions to youth, parents, and community members on substance abuse prevention.
- Maintain accurate program records and documentation, including participant information, progress reports, and program evaluations.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, public health, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, professional certifications, and relevant experience such as youth development, prevention, behavioral health or community-based services.
- Proven experience in coordinating and implementing substance abuse prevention programs, preferably with a focus on youth.
- Comprehensive knowledge of substance abuse prevention strategies, evidence-based interventions, and risk factors specific to youth.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to effectively plan, implement, and evaluate program activities.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, may include experience in supervising and supporting of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data collection and evaluation methods to assess program outcomes and measure impact.
