Summer Intern Highlight

Fernando Galaviz & Georgia-Ann Stevens

Our goal for Summer Interns is that through training, work, exploration of the Gospel, and the building of new relationships, they will have a better understanding of healthy urban missiology, become stronger leaders and community advocates, as well as develop the skills to be successful in their personal/professional journey.

The summer tested these young leaders physically, mentally and spiritually. It was during the challenging days that we saw their perseverance, resilience and commitment to the Kids Club participants and campers.

One of these emerging leaders is Fernando Galaviz. His desire for the Internship was to be part of the planning for Kids Club, to continue to be a leader to the group he led during the 2021 Kids Club, and to connect to others with different perspectives. When reflecting on the impact the internship had on him spiritually, Fernando feels like many spiritual questions were answered during the internship and now he knows that when you need it, “God is there for you.”

Another emerging leader is Georgia-Ann Stevens. She has found joy in advocating for youth and making sure each young individual’s voice is heard. Throughout her internship she assisted in recruiting young leaders to help with our summer programs, and she helped plan events for the youth throughout the summer. She’s been a huge help for the Sueños Youth Center and her presence will be missed.
