NM Church is Making an Impact

The theme for this summer was “Who’s in your ear? You’re God’s Chosen!” We looked at a selection of bible stories that highlight how God was doing something new in the world, revealing new truths, and welcoming people into his family. Our hope is to learn together to hear God’s voice, to believe we are God’s chosen, to rise and do the work he calls us to do, and in this way, we continue “to be the presence of Jesus Christ, sharing of his life transforming hope, love, and power!”

Here are some highlights of this summer for our church and our community.

FEEDING OUR COMMUNITY

Moms in our community love cooking and feeding our community. Every year, church signs up to feed our interns and work crew for one of the days during their summer program. We had a great time cooking carne asada and serving around 70 of our youth and volunteers.

REAL LIFE – ACTIVE FAITH

Continuing our partnership with Corazon Arizona, this summer we launched a campaign called Rise & Vote which is aimed to educate and organize communities of faith around the issues that impact our communities and the importance of voting. We believe that our faith calls us to seek the well-being of our communities and to be agents of change in our world. This summer we started with two town halls meetings where we shared the vision for the work this coming year. We also had a phone-banking event reminding our community to practice their civic duty to vote in the primary elections.

THE DANIEL INITIATIVE

The Daniel Initiative is a network of pastors and church leaders from all over the world who have moved to Arizona. These global leaders are committed to serving the local church by seeking and equipping the next generation of “Daniels.” Each year we go on a prayer retreat to seek direction from God and to ask that his Spirit would lead us to be a blessing in our city. This year’s retreat was in Sedona, and it was an amazing time getting to know and welcome new brothers and sisters to the group.
